At TLC Pediatrics of Amarillo, we believe that prevention is the foundation of lifelong health. Regular well-child visits enable us to monitor your child’s growth, development, and overall well-being, while providing parents with the opportunity to ask questions and receive guidance on nutrition, safety, behavior, and developmental milestones. We follow the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommended schedule to ensure your child receives timely and personalized care at every stage.

Following the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommended schedule, these visits include:

  • Physical exams and growth evaluations
  • Routine screening tests
  • Immunizations to protect against preventable diseases
  • Guidance on nutrition, safety, and behavior
  • Discussion of anticipated needs and developmental milestones

Well-child visits are a time to partner with families, address concerns, and provide education to ensure your child stays healthy and thriving. We follow the AAP schedule closely to provide timely, personalized care at every stage of your child’s growth.

Recommended Well-Child Visit Schedule

2–5 days

Initial newborn assessment, feeding and weight evaluation, jaundice check, and answer parent questions.

2 weeks

Follow-up on feeding, weight, overall health, and parental guidance

2 months

Growth and development check, immunizations, safety, and nutrition counseling

4 months

Developmental assessment, growth, immunizations, guidance on milestones

6 months

Growth, developmental progress, nutrition and feeding guidance, vaccinations

9 months

Physical exam, developmental evaluation, anticipatory guidance

12 months

Growth, developmental screening, vaccinations, nutrition, and safety counseling

15 months

Developmental assessment, immunizations, and behavior guidance

18 months

Growth, behavioral and developmental check, nutrition, and safety guidance

2 years (24 months)

Developmental evaluation, physical exam, behavior, and learning support
