🌟The Importance of Immunizations
At TLC Pediatrics of Amarillo, we know how important it is to you to keep your child healthy and safe — and that’s our goal as well.
We also know there’s a lot of information out there about vaccines, and it can sometimes feel confusing or even overwhelming. We’re here to listen and answer your questions, and guide you with care and understanding every step of the way.
Vaccines are one of the most effective and safest ways to protect children from serious, sometimes life-threatening illnesses such as measles, meningitis, and whooping cough. Many of these diseases have no cure, which makes prevention so important.
That’s why we follow the trusted recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to keep your child protected at every stage of growth.
💛 Our Beliefs About Vaccines
At TLC Pediatrics, our philosophy is simple: prevention is protection.
We believe:
- 💉 Vaccines keep children safe and save lives.
- 🔬 Vaccines are safe and supported by decades of research and monitoring.
- 🧠 Vaccines do not cause autism or developmental delays — this has been repeatedly studied and confirmed by experts around the world.
- 🌎 Vaccinating children protects everyone — your child, your family, and your community.
🌟 Why Vaccines Matter
Vaccines protect more than just your little one — they protect everyone around them.
Here’s why they matter:
- 🧸 They protect your child from dangerous, preventable diseases.
- 💕 They protect others, including newborns, grandparents, and those with health conditions who can’t be vaccinated.
- 🏫 They prevent outbreaks, helping keep schools, daycares, and our community safe and healthy.
Because of vaccines, illnesses like polio, measles, and diphtheria — once common — are now rare in the United States. That’s the power of prevention.
🌼 Our Vaccine Philosophy
We follow the vaccine schedules recommended by the AAP and CDC, with small adjustments when needed. These schedules are designed to protect children at the ages when they’re most at risk.

🧸 Early Protection Matters
Starting vaccines early is the best way to keep your baby safe. Young children are more vulnerable to diseases like hepatitis B, tetanus, rotavirus, and whooping cough, which is why early immunization is key.
State laws also require vaccines for children attending schools and daycare facilities to protect everyone.
We understand that shots can be stressful for both kids and parents. Our team takes time to make the experience as calm and gentle as possible — with kindness, patience, and reassurance.
Every vaccine we use has been carefully tested and reviewed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ensure it’s safe and effective.
💬 Our Practice Policy
Because we care deeply about every child’s health — and the health of all our patients — we require that all children in our practice be fully vaccinated by age 2 and remain up to date with recommended vaccinations.
Families who choose not to vaccinate or who prefer to delay essential vaccines will be asked to transfer care to another practice.
This policy helps us keep our waiting rooms, newborns, and medically fragile children safe from preventable diseases.
